Oak framed garden room for a farmhouse style home
The owners of this farmhouse style home wanted something more robust and stylish than their old conservatory. It was too hot in summer, too cold in winter, and became an underused space.
They had it replaced with an oak framed garden room, which was much more suited to the farmhouse style of the main building, and suitable for year round use. The traditional style timber frame, and the bespoke doors, were constructed from oak from our sawmills.
We asked the team at Prime Property Renovations to tell us all about the project – and we asked the homeowners for their feedback…
Prime Renovations: We were asked to take down and replace an old conservatory with a green oak garden room. The shape of the conservatory meant the space was not functional, it was too hot in the summer, and being at the front of the house they thought that oak would suit the farmhouse style of their property more.
We began by carefully taking the old conservatory down which was then sold online. After the Building Control inspector came to inspect the foundations and gave them the ok, we took down the existing brick wall and replaced it with new walls that match the house.
The new garden room was constructed using green oak, to make a traditional style oak frame.
The green oak was supplied by Vastern Timber, from their sawmill in Calne.
The next stage was to add the roof coverings. Then we installed the glazing timber and fitted the glass, facias, soffits and guttering.
The oak doors were built off site by a local joiner using Vastern Timber materials and then installed by Prime Property Renovation.
Once the outside was finished, we went inside to extend the underfloor heating ring and match the existing floor tiles and lay. Finally, we insulated and plastered, and the electrics and second fix carpentry were done.
“It looks FABULOUS, THANK YOU so much. Great job (again) by you all.” – Sally Oliphant.
“We are very happy with the finished garden room and the quality of the work carried out by Rob, Jack and others is great.” – Simon Oliphant.
