Carbon Footprinting Webinar with ASBP
Join us for a webinar on Carbon Footprinting with the Alliance of Sustainable Building Materials on 29 June.
Our MD Tom Barnes will be part of a panel discussion on how to assess the carbon footprint of an organisation.
Vastern Timber commissioned JCH Industrial Ecology, a respected environmental consultancy, to carry out an analysis of our greenhouse gas emissions data for 2021.
We published the results in full, and we’ve been using the insights from this process to prioritise actions to reduce our carbon emissions. We’ve begun using solar power on site, and we’re working to reduce waste and emissions from our sawmills.
Tom’s looking forward to sharing our experience and talking through some of the challenges, successes, and lessons learned.

About the ASBP
The Alliance of Sustainable Building Products (ASBP) is an independent alliance of organisations working to increase the quality, health and sustainability of the built environment by making and using improved products and systems.
More about the webinar
The ASBP says:
Measuring your organisational carbon footprint is a key first step on the journey to reducing carbon emissions. Larger organisations are legally obliged to report on their carbon emissions but for smaller and medium businesses it can be more of a grey area.
SMEs, start-ups and innovators are often some of the most progressive stakeholders in the sustainability space but may be unsure on how to accurately calculate their footprint and reduce their emissions due to a lack of in-house expertise and the perceived costs of carbon accounting.
Meanwhile, some large developers and contractors are ahead of the curve, making robust commitments to reduce their scope 3 emissions by engaging with their supply chains.
Join us for a lunchtime webinar to hear from organisations within the ASBP membership, from SMEs to large international companies, who have taken action to assess their organisation’s carbon footprint. Find out more about their approach, lessons learned and steps they are taking to reduce their emissions.
Plus, expert insights from a leading carbon accounting and sustainability expert to break down the jargon and answer your questions, such as:
- What are scope 3 emissions and how can they be measured?
- Is offsetting ‘truly’ sustainable?
- What is the difference between net zero and carbon neutrality?
- How should we account for carbon sequestration?
